1984 thru 1990 Alpha One

Alpha One Upper Housing

A. Top cover is flat. Pre - Alpha has a hump on it with a hole thru it.
B. Area around vent hole is smooth. Pre - Alpha has ribs.
C. Hole for plastic trim tab cover is 1/2 diameter. Pre - Alpha is 7/16.

This upper housing will fit a Pre - Alpha lower housing but will not fit a Gen II.

Alpha One Lower Housing

A. End of prop shaft has the letter "A" stamped on it. Pre - Alpha has no letters.
B. End of cavitation plate is almost square. Pre - Alpha is round.
C. Vertical drive shaft has no preload pin on the top of it. Pre - Alpha has a pin.

This lower housing will fit a Pre - Alpha upper housing but will not fit a Gen II.

The 2 5/16 diameter below the water pump has threads in it. Pre - Alpha is smooth.

This lower housing will fit a Pre - Alpha upper housing but will not fit a Gen II.
