Gen II Water Pump Guide Pins
This is
MerCruiser p/n 91- 821571A1. These guide pins are used during the reassembly of the
water pump. After placing the gaskets, wear plate and impeller in the
lower unit, these pins are then screwed into (2) of the water pump mounting
holes and are used to guide the upper stainless steel housing down onto the
mounting surface.
Always remember
to put some grease inside of the upper housing and to turn the vertical drive
shaft clock-wise when lowering the housing down onto the mounting surface. This
will put the correct bend on the impeller.

MerCruiser p/n 32-860220 upper copper water supply tube ( old # 32-814384 ). It
fits into the upper outdrive housing and supplies water from the water pump in the lower unit to
the upper housing.

MerCruiser p/n 23-816583 lower plastic water pump guide tube. It mounts on top of the water
pump coupling (shown below) and guides the upper copper water supply tube ( shown above ) into the top of the water
pump coupling. It will fit all Alpha One / Generation II drives made from 1991 to

MerCruiser p/n 816597A1 lower guide coupling. It comes with (2) o-rings
which fit inside. This coupling sets on top of the stainless steel water pump
housing and seals the upper copper tubing to the lower pump housing. The plastic
guide tube above fits in the top of this. This comes with the (2) o-rings.

compressed on top of the stainless steel water pump upper housing using the
height setting tool shown.
